Job Campaign at Phnom Penh Special Economic Zone

Phnom Penh Special Economic Zone (SEZ) has launched a national effort to promote a range of job opportunities at Cambodia’s leading special economic zone. With an improved outlook on the economy for the coming years, support by favorable export access to a variety of world markets and a comparably low wage level within the region, PPSEZ has seen an enormous surge in global interest in this modern industrial park on the outskirts of the Cambodia capital.

Currently, PPSEZ has 27 companies from Japan, Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore, Cambodia, China, Korea, Philippine, and Vietnam in which 20 companies in operation with 4915 workers including 2917 female workers. Another seven companies are on constructing, four of them will finish their construction on June or July and for other three will finish at the end of this year. As the growth, PPSEZ plan to recruit 8500 workers more to work at that place for three year plan, 1500 workers including 400 workers for Menebea Company for 2011, 3000 worker for 2012 and 4000 workers for 2013.

“Demand for investment in Cambodia is in fact so high that our partners often have a hard time to find a large number of workers on all levels of skill. We support then by providing a safe and stable, clean environment, support on administrative issues as well as with recruitment to staff. PPSEZ as a new major investment destination in Southeast Asia offers thousands of workers a chance to experience the tremendous growth of Cambodia first hand and to contribute to its future,” said Hiroshi Uematsu, Managing Director of PPSEZ.

He added that PPSEZ was established in 2006 with the prime objective to attract foreign direct investment to Cambodia, to increase exports and further accelerate the country’s economic growth. It has achieved both ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certification in early

World-Class brands such as Ajinomoto or Menebea already operate at PPPSEZ while others such as Yamaha are planning to set up operations.

“We grow constantly and are permanently looking to fill open position. We are looking for an opportunity to enter the work market, unskilled or skilled, train an untrained,” Kim Va, Customer Service Manager at PPSEZ. “Good workers can their way up the career ladder fast and take on more responsible. People in Cambodia are eager and want to move forward, this is the place to come. Everyone no needs to find jobs aboard to work but can now have a good future near your home.”

Nowadays, more and more companies are looking to produce value products for the world markets are offering opportunities to workers mechanics, engineers, administrative staff and other position in a variety of industries.

According to Peter Ng Meng Cheng, Director of Cloben Energy company which provide power for all companies in PPSEZ, said that currently company has three generators, each generator can power 6.5 megawatts, which enough to supply the electricity needs of the company in PPSEZ. “Company is ready to supply more energy for new companies”

He stressed that among all SEZs, only PPSEZ has its own power plant. This power plant supply for customer on 24 hours/day and all costumers in PPSEZ will never face cut-off energy problem with stable power that will not damage to machine health.
