Cambodia organize two golf tournaments

The Cambodian golf Federation in cooperation with the national Olympic committee of Cambodia and Ministry of Tourism will organize two events on May 13 to 15 in Phokeethra Club in Siem Reap.

The two events are Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen Cup 2011 and selecting athletes for SEA Games tournament.

H.E. Hor Sarun, Under Secretary of State of Ministry of Tourism said that throughout the permission of Prime Minister Hun Sen, every year the Cambodian golf federation organizes Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen Cup since 2009.

In 2011, the Cambodian golf federation cooperation with the national Olympic committee of Camboida and the Ministry of Tourism to held the third Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen Golf Cup and also organize selecting golf athletes to join SEA Games in Indonesia on November 2011 from 13 to 15 May 2011 in Phokeethra country club golf field in siem reap.

He stressed that the athletes who wish to take part of Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen Cup 2011 need to paid 130 dollar golf field fee and two-days lunch during competition. For tournament allow all athletes to ride car and begin compete by shot gun.

For selecting golf athletes to join SEA Games divide into two steps. The first step held from 13 to 14 May to select 20 athletes which ranked from 1 to 20. 20 athletes will continue to compete in second step on 15 May in order to select qualify athletes to compete SEA Games. The aberration committees will response all expend of athletes during competition. “The first two-day competition, the Cambodian golf federation will give handicap 2011 which recognize by United States Golf Association (USGA) to athletes.

H.E. Eth Sarath, Secretary General of Cambodian Golf Federation, said that all tournaments implement the law of Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews (R&A) and local Rules of Phokeethra club. The golf athletes are limited only 100 athletes for registration. The registration open for all Cambodian golf athletes and feigners who is stay in Cambodia from three month.

Vath Chamroeun, Secretary General of Cambodia said it is the first time that Cambodia organizes selecting golf athletes in Cambodia. “This tournament is very important for athletes to get handicap. Cambodian golf athletes also joined SEA Games in Laos last year. Even though they do not get champion, but the ability is similar to athletes in other country.
