Cambodia Wins Laos 4-2 for First Leg of World Cup Qualifying Tournament

The day for round one of 2014 World Cup Asian Qualifying tournament between Cambodia and Lao already started due Cambodia Football team take the role of hosting country to open the door to welcome Lao football team from distance in the first leg which held on 29 June at National Stadium in Phnom Penh. With over 10 thousand eyes on the football field, Cambodia football team beat Lao football team 4-2 and leads two scores toward the second leg in Vientiane, Lao on July 3.

The time before the match was a big rain, but the rain stopped while the match started till the end of the end of the match. It is not like the friendly match between Cambodia and Malaysia in a few weeks ago. Cambodia football team start with the power sounds from thousand audiences at the beginning of the match, but the sounds was broken by Lao player 16 Phomsouvanh Monolom get fist score lead the first half at 10 minute. Even though Cambodia defend players try to take ball to striker areas many times, but they could not successful pass the ball.

The match became exciting while Cambodia football team try to earn equal score at the second half. After 7 minute of second half, Khuon Laboravy Cambodian player 11 went through Lao player 17 and shot the ball to earn a ball to be equal. Not so long, Substituted player 20 Sam El Nasa stroke on the front of the goal while Khoun Laboravy already prepared ball for him and then he successfully earn a goal to lead the match on 2-1 at 59 minute.

Just after 2 minute pass, Lao football team earned one goal as the same as first half that Lao player 16 earns the score to be equal, 2-2.

With the challenge of two teams to win each other, two teams of players try for their team and not give another side opportunity for shooting. However, Cambodia player 10 Kouch Sokumpheak run to the font of goal to wait for the ball from Sun Sopanha and immediately shot the ball to earn one more ball then Cambodia team lead the score again at 68 minute.

Lao football team tried their effort to earn for equal, but they had no even a chance to do that. Five minute before finish the match, Cambodia player Sokumpheak pass the ball to Sam El Nasa and finally earn his second ball to win the match in the final of 4-2.

Lee Tae Hoon, Head Coach of Cambodia team was not happy with the first half, said that players did not cooperation to each other while they did not pass the ball to each other. “I am happy while everything ran well at the second half,” he added.

Hans Peter Schaller, Austrian Coach of Lao football team expressed his sadness on the match while his team did many mistakes at second half. Anyways, he mentioned that most of players in his team are young and some of them just play such kind of the match first time. He believed that his team plays well in their country as say that “we are strong enough to win the game. If players did not make mistake, the match will be better than this”.
