Cambodia Paralympics Awarded for Their Achievement

The Paralympics games is growing so fast in the last decade with many good achievement and admired on the international stage, King Norodom Sihanouk award high dignitary Tepadin medal to Yi Veasa and other medals to leader, coaches and athletes of National Paralympics Committee of Cambodia for their achievement and development contribution to country. Prime Miniser Hun Sen also donated US$2000 for their great achievement.    

According to Yi Veasa, General Secretary of National Paralympics Committee of Cambodia showed that the committee has established in 1997. He said that from 1999 till now, disabilities athletes achieved 63 medals including 15 goal medals, 30 silver medals and 18 bronzed medals.

 He stressed those Cambodian disabilities athletes have joined Asian Games for disabilities in Guanzhon which held from 9 to 20 December 2010. A Cambodian female athlete achieves the first place in that tournament. In 2011, Cambodian disabilities athletes won six goal medals, five silver meals and two bronze medals form the 11th Paralympics Games in Malaysia.

H.E. Thong Khon, Minister of Ministry of Tourism and President of National Olympic Committee of Cambodia admired Cambodian disabilities athletes, said that even though they are physical disable, but they are not mental disabilities. They still continue to participate international tournaments and achieved many achievements.  

Tin Senghong, Paralympics athlete who won the first place for 200 meter in Guanzhou Asian Paralympics, said that she is happy after joining as Paralympics athlete. “I will try my best in SEA Games in December this year and I hope I can achieve best performance, because I have much time to prepare and confident.” In the SEA Games, She will join four events such as 100m run, 200m run, 400m run and jumping.
