Cambodia’s Export to EU Expects to Grow 20%

“The export of Cambodia products to EU except to increase 20% in 2011 compared to previous year,” Ambassador David Limpman, Head of EU Delegation in Cambodia, said at 61st Anniversary of the EU Day on 18 May.

He added that total value of Cambodia product export to EU in 2010 is 0.9 billion euro, which is equal to 1.3 billion dollars. In the first quarter of 2011, the amount of export to EU increase sequence as 175 million euro for January, 165 million euro for February, and 299 million euro. The main export products from Cambodia to EU are textile, cloth, shoes and agriculture product.

According to EU-Cambodia cooperation report, EU is a main market for Cambodia, which Cambodia export a lot of products to EU. The amount of export to EU increase from year to year as 730 million euro for 2008, 771 million euro for 2009 and 875 million euro compare to amount of world export to EU as 1,564.96 million euro for 2008, 1,205.27 million euro for 2009 and 1,491.60 million euro.

He stressed that EU continue to provide assistance as well as encourage Cambodia economy and open market for Cambodia. “The relationship between EU and Cambodia are strong and getting stronger.” As the strategy, EU helped Cambodia through marketing and promotes Cambodia products in EU market. This marketing strategy is a way to open market for Cambodia to EU.

 As report, total amount exports of EU to Cambodia are 152 million euro for 2008, 126 million euro for 2009 and 153 million euro for 2010. The main export products of EU are machinery, transport equipment chemicals and health products.
