NOCC Prepare Strategies for 2011

The National Olympic Committee of Cambodia (NOCC) has launched an annual assembly meeting of (NOCC) to sum up the work in 2010 and prepare strategy for next progress on December 21st.

The annual assembly focuses on four main points: activities work report 2010, work progress in 2011, financial planning and problems in 2010. 

Mr. Vath Chamroeun, Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia said NOCC achieved many results in year 2010 such as multiply many athletes, successful prepared many training courses especially the training course for athletes to join 16th Asian games, join many national and international tournaments and reinforced job activities with international partners. By the way, NOCC joint four main games included SEA game in Lao, 2010 Youth Olympic games in Singapore, the 16th Asian games in China and Beach games in Oman. In those games, Cambodian athletes get a good result in SEA games and 2010 Youth Olympic Games. For Asian Games, even though Cambodian athletes do not get a good result, but they can challenge till the final round. It is the first time that Cambodian athletes can struggle with 45 countries to get medals. As the result in 2010, Cambodia got 40 medals from SEA Games and one bronze medal from Youth Olympic Games.

As the meeting mention, NOCC have to strengthen the 36 federations’ works and have a good relationship with them in order to develop sport sector in Cambodia. Moreover, NOCC needs to be solidarity and glorious with every federation, he remarked.

In the same time, NOCC prepare some strategies such as training courses, workshop and more training for athletes to be well-prepared to the 26th Southeast Asian Games which held in Palembang, Indonesia next year.

He told the Southeast Asia Weekly after meeting that Cambodia will take role of host country to run 10th ASEAN Taekwondo Championship in April and plan forty thousand dollars for preparing this event. In the same, NOCC also create a marketing plan to find sponsors to support this event too.

In the progress of 2010, NOCC also meet some problems. One of them is another countries want to buy athletes especially beach volleyball and athletic athletes from Cambodia, but Cambodia has no “Buy-Sell athletes Law”. Therefore, the meeting suggest NOCC to daft the law for buying and selling athletes. The meeting also approval NOCC to recheck inactivity of Boxing Federation of Cambodia especially on free boxing sport and coordination with them to solve the problems that appear during the contest.
