Around 50 to 60 weddings happened per day during the wedding season in Cambodia in which it means that wedding are very popular in Cambodia, but it is never heard of wedding planner. The Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra in cooperation with The Wedding Planners (TWP) and couture wedding collection designers La Flaire to launch the first International Luxury Wedding Fair over four days in Phnom Penh, Cambodia from 2 to 5 June.
The event is a poof of Cambodia’s growing appeal as a romance destination and it marked the first luxury international wedding exhibition in Cambodia.
Didier Lamoot, General Manager of the Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra, said that the wedding fair will be something new for Phnom Penh in terms of scale and attraction “couples in the city will easily have their pick for creative ideas from the cream of local and international vendors for the first time.”
The fair celebrated the art of weddings with workshops, one-on-one consolations, and display by local and regional creators. Aside from wedding design, the fair also showcased themes for corporate events and parties.
Wedding planning is an entirely new concept in Cambodia. A well-known brainchild The Wedding Planners also in the wedding fair to plan for Cambodian groom and bride to be come true in their wedding.
“A lot of couples plan their own wedding with the help of their families. What happens is that they could possibly have different views, or perhaps they do not know the best places to source for an item, but definitely, the biggest issue is that the couple and sometimes the family do not get enjoy the wedding whole-heartedly because they are running around making sure everything is going well,” owner of The Wedding Planner Leticia Hsu said. “A lot of couples in Malaysia have sought out wedding planners simply over the years, because they want their families to be able to fully enjoy their wedding.”
Elieen Lui, co-owner of TWP who have been based in Cambodia, said that the idea of wedding planning is for Cambodian people to be able to come to creative ways to plan a wedding a wedding with keeping close to tradition and culture.
