Ms. Carol A. Rodley served in the diplomatic services while in Cambodia for the first time in the 1990s when the country had not received complete peace. However, in her second mission in Cambodia as ambassador for three years, Cambodia was full of peace around the country and there was only one government. “The U.S. ambassador has seen the different periods of development last time and this time as the progress of development in the economy, society and all sectors,” he emphasized.

In response, H.E. Hor Namhong thanked Ms. Carol for her contribution in improving the bilateral cooperation for both countries and thanked the U.S. government in providing grant aid to all sectors in Cambodia, especially education, health and mine clearing.

He stressed that the visit of U.S. Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, also made important contributions for cooperation and mutual ties for both countries.

The outgoing ambassador will finish her work soon after three years of service. She also is the 7th ambassador to Cambodia. Both sides also are boosting trade and investment.

According to the Ministry of Commerce, the bilateral trade between Cambodia and U.S. increased 3 percent to about US$ 168 million in the same period if comparing to 2010.
