The international Business Chamber of Cambodia (IBC) will organize investment and economic conference 2011 under the theme “global challenges, Cambodia’s responses” from 11 to 12 October 2011 at Inter Continental in Phnom Penh to mitigate risks of global business.
As schedule, Samdech HUN SEN, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia will deliver his key note address in this conference,” the media release from Business Chamber of Cambodia said, adding that the program will feature plenary sessions and workshops on a range of subject such as investment climate, practicalities of doing business in Cambodia, opportunities and sector overviews like tourism, agriculture, financial services, manufacturing, banking, financial services, capital markets, energy, mineral resources, and infrastructure.
Last month, Cambodia hosts Asian challenging and economic perspectives and one of main speaker Dr. Thaksin Shinawatra, former Thai PM. The main trade partners of the country are EU, US, neighboring countries in ASEAN but it also is trying to boost with other partners like the Middle East, Russian, and other Asian countries while the global economic aspects recessed.
Total volume trade of the country was worth about over 13 billion in 2011 and in 2012 it expected to be over 15 billion while in 2010 it was about 11.7 billion. In 2011, Cambodia expects to have economic growth of 8 per cent.

IBM spends $1.5bn to eliminate its chip unit
ReplyDeleteWell-knowndigital marketing agency, The two companies have confirmed IBM is getting shot of its semiconductor unit, but it will have to pay contract chip-maker GlobalFoundries $1.5 billion to take on the loss-making business.
According to IBM release, although the move is significant, it doesn't spell the end of IBM's Power Risc processor, which will be made under contract. GlobalFoundries will become IBM's exclusive server processor semiconductor technology provider for 22 nanometer, 14nm and 10nm semiconductors for the next 10 years.
Bloomberg says GlobalFoundries will get the expertise of IBM's highly-respected engineers as well as intellectual property (in other words, thousands of patents). It will also give IBM a guaranteed supply of Power chips for mainframes and large scale computers. GlobalFoundries is contributing $200 million of resources, which will offset the price IBM is paying.
